Cubafriend will be running a "Find the player" stall at
Old Hall Junior School Christmas Fair.
Update : Cubafriend raised £100 from this event. Many
thanks to everyone who helped with the running of the stall
and all those who participated. |

Shaun and Roz are planning another trip to the village
to try to organise the school links and further the sports
facilities as well as taking more much needed supplies.
Update : This trip had to be cancelled due to Shaun being
taken into hospital with Kidney stones. The projects planned
for this week will hopefully be undertaken during the family
trip in April. |

Shaun, Roz and the rest of the family will be spending
thier family holiday in Playa Pesquero near Puerta de Vita
and intend to use some of this time to progress the projects
which were intended for February. Update: The trip was
extremely successful. We were able to purchase many of the
materials needed to begin construction of the house. The
links with the school were created, letters were exchanged
between the 2 schools children, a laptop was donated to the
school as well as a football kit for the school children to
use while in school. We also purchased a horse and cart in
conjunction with Paul and Diane (Shaun's father and partner)
to help with transportation of materials to and from the
site of the new house. Images of all this will be available
soon on this site. |

Shaun is hoping to persuade 10 other volunteers to join
him for the Great Yorkshire run (10K). All participants will
be asked to try and raise £200 each to be donated to
Cubafriend. Any volunteers for this event can contact Shaun
via all methods listed on the

Update : 6 people volunteered for the run which raised
approximately £1500 towards the cause. An excellent effort
from all concerned. |

Further week planned to view progress of house
construction and to progress the links with the school.
Further efforts will be made between now and October to
progress the situation with the sports field. Update :
Another Kidney stone prevented this trip which has now been
re-arranged for December. |

One week trip planned to share Christmas and New year
with Ernesto and family, progress charity links and
hopefully manage a couple of days relaxation. Update :
Trip massively successful. Alex has agreed to join the
charity staff, helping with co-ordination of aid provided.
He is hoping to have a phone line installed shortly allowing
the charity members to communicate more regularly and cost
effectively with him via email. This has been funded by the
charity. Ernesto's house is close to completion and life for
the family is transformed. Several other candidates for
support have been identified which we hope to progress in
April. |

The family holiday will once again be spent at the Playa
Pesquero to enable further work with the charities
beneficiaries as well as a well earned rest. |

Old Hall School Fair : Once again a stall will be run at
the school fair. This year Shaun has made a set of stocks.
The children will be able to volunteer to go into the stocks
to allow friends and family to throw wet sponges at them.
Update: The Stocks were a great success. We raised £143.

Shaun, Owen, Ashleigh, Gary, Sophie and Andrea ran the
Great Yorkshire Run 10km to raise funds. In total the group
raised approximately £1000. Many thanks to all involved. |

The family is once again spending Christmas and New Year
in Cuba. This will allow us to oversee the completion of
Ernesto's house and put into place plans to start the next
project. |
