| After discussions with headmistress, Sharon Stone, it
has been agreed the Old Hall Juniors will begin a program
aimed at linking the two schools. Initially the school has
committed to one year 4 class writing letters to their
counterparts in Cuba, introducing themselves and giving a
brief description of their lives, hobbies, school activities
etc, in the hope that these can be passed to the Cuban
children in February and hopefully replies return to the
children at Old Hall. Other ideas include presentations to
the children to create awareness of the conditions the
Cubans face compared with their own. It is hoped that the
children will also participate in a fund-raising exercise of
some description to try to improve the lives of their new
friends, possibly by providing much needed writing materials
and other items that can be used for educational purposes. |
